Why "Plastic Erosion" Stayed With Me

We've all heard the facts about plastic pollution. The statistics are staggering. The warnings are constant. Yet information alone rarely changes the way we see the world.
Plastic Erosion understands that. Rather than telling us why plastic pollution matters, it shows us. We don't just learn about the problem. We experience it.
It's one thing to explain an issue. It's another to make someone feel close enough to it that they can't look away.
Stories can turn distant problems into personal ones. They can replace statistics with images that linger long after the credits have rolled.
The film reminded me that sometimes seeing is more powerful than being told.
Storytelling doesn't simply ask us to understand something. It invites us to witness it.
Plastic Erosion, directed by Li Yifei and Zheng Bao, China. HASFA Best Commercial, 2026.
