Why "Hornless" Stayed With Me

Hornless poster

One of storytelling's greatest strengths is its ability to give a voice to those who don't have one.

Hornless places us inside the perspective of a rhinoceros as danger closes in. It doesn't understand why it's being hunted. It only knows something is terribly wrong.

Most of us have heard about poaching. Far fewer of us have stopped to imagine what that experience might feel like from the animal's side of it.

Facts can tell us what is happening. Stories can help us feel why it matters. That's the difference.

The most meaningful stories don't ask us to look harder. They ask us to look through someone else's eyes. Perhaps that's where compassion begins.

Hornless, directed by Damla Ayzeren, Turkey. HASFA Best Documentary, 2026.
